Cleaning without harming!
The practice of doing things the ‘Eco’ way may once have been considered as ‘alternative’ living and representative of a very small selection of the population, this however has dramatically changed in the past 5 years. ‘Eco’ living is now widely regarded as the only way to live if you value your health, the health of those around you and the sustainability of the environment.
This is evident everywhere you go now with many ‘Eco’ lines of produce out selling established mainstream brands. You only need to visit the local supermarket to see this. However, one area which has gained particular exposure in the media recently is ‘Eco’ cleaning, or cleaning without using potentially harmful agents.
Many of the synthetic chemicals applied in domestic cleaning can be highly toxic and have been proven to have direct links with allergies, headaches, respiratory illness, congestion and fatigue along with more serious effects.
There is also a misconception relating to certain products that are labelled as biodegradable. The term often suggests a product that is environmentally sound and kinder to humans and animals. Many commercial and domestic cleaning products however that still use non-ionic surfactants derived from or manufactured with ethylene oxide are promoted as being biodegradable, yet they often do not biodegrade readily under the anaerobic conditions found in some parts of our waterways and hence still have an adverse effect on our environment.
All these issues are particularly relevant to standard carpet cleaning practice, in which huge arrays of chemicals are used for different stains and methods.
However, it does not need to be like this as there are excellent cleaning products on the market that are 100% plant based, biodegradable and non-toxic and that produce the same results when used with powerful water extraction equipment.
Eco Carpet Care only use these new-generation surfactants which are more sustainable - they are produced from renewable resources and they biodegrade readily without toxic effects or by-products.
Through word of mouth demand for our service has grown quickly and a genuine need for the service has seen it transform into a unique and important business.
We are fully certified by the National Carpet Cleaners Association and believe that the majority of professional carpet cleaners around the Country do an excellent job. However, this service was established for those of you like us who take a real interest in their health and micro-environments and wish to live and work in conditions that will not promote the symptoms of exposure to dangerous and often harmful chemicals.
It is exciting that the term ‘Eco Cleaning’ is now widely recognized, even by supermarkets as a standard that we should all strive for in maintaining as healthy an environment as we can and we are delighted that the company is able to promote and maintain an important area of this essential environmental concept’.
